After enduring a harrowing night on the stormy sea, Gohan is washed ashore, weak and exhausted, but his fortunes change when two kindhearted orphans, Rom and Chiko, find him and nurse him back to health. Gohan soon learns that Rom and Chiko are part of a larger gang of orphans who have banded together to survive, living on their own and evading meddling adults who seek to separate them. Their leader, Pigero, devises a daring plan to relocate the group to a safer hiding place, offering hope for a better future. However, their efforts are thrown into chaos when the police unexpectedly intervene, threatening to tear the tight-knit group apart. Amid the turmoil, Gohan finds himself caught between his desire to help his new friends and the lingering pull of his own journey.
